ANNUAL DISPLAY AND PRESENTATION 2011

12.30 PM – 2-.30PM – THURSDAY AND FRIDAY GROUPS INCLUDING COMPETITION GYMNASTS

ALL GYMNASTS, PARENTS AND FAMILIES WELCOME.

DOORS OPEN 9.45 AM

COST £2 adults 50 pence children

DRESS CODE: CLUB T SHIRT NAVY SHORTS BARE FEET. LONG HAIR NEATLY TIED BACK – NO JEWELLERY (stud earrings allowed but covered up with tape)

Five gymnasts will represent the Club at the East Wales Womens Artistic Novice championships this Sunday.  

 Alice Hackwood, Lacey Bennetts and Keely Malone will represent the 8 – 9 age group

Abigail Brunnock will represent 10 – 11 age group

Jessica Abraham will represent 12 – 13 age group

 All girls have worked very hard to achieve excellent routines – we wish them well on Sunday – good luck GIRLS !!

Well done to all our competitive tumblers at this year’s Welsh Tumble Championships held at Haverfordwest leisure centre. 

Novice tumblers

All the gymnasts performed fantastic routines and were outstandingly presented at the competition.  In the novice competition Marcus Bell secured bronze medal position overall performing 3 excellent routines.

In the Improver section Keely Malone won 3rd place and Lacey Bennetts secured 2nd place overall – wow ! what an achievement. This was a tough category and our girls can be proud of their amazing performances. 

In the Intermediate section Tyler Edwards won gold overall performing 3 outstanding tumbles. Poppy Jones, Jessica Abraham and Tyler all collected team gold – go CITY OF NEWPORT !!!!!

In the 13/14 age group Stephanie secured bronze medal position in a close fought contest, Well done Stephanie for 3 fabulous tumble routines. 

The gymnasts represented the Club with pride and were congratulated by many other clubs, coaches and judges  on the day. Well done CNGC !!

Its now back to the gym for more training in preparation for the next competitions in November..

WELL DONE AGAIN TO ALL THE GYMNASTS

Stephanie Grant, Poppy Jones and Libby Wallace will enter the new Welsh Intermediate Championships on Saturday 24th September and Sunday 25th September 2011. The competition will be held at Sophia Gardens Sport Wales Centre Cardiff.  Poppy will enter the 12/13 year age category and will be up against some fierce competition from all over Wales.  Her training regime has been exceptional, working very hard to achieve fabulous routines.  Libby will enter the 8/9 age category and has also worked tremendously hard to achieve difficult routines. Libby will also be up against some strong competitors.  Stephanie has trained superbly for this competition. Her routines have been practised to perfection in the gym and will also be up against some tough competition. We wish them all the best from everyone at the Club – we know they will do us proud – GOOD LUCK GIRLS !!

It would be fantastic if members of the Club came along to support this competition and cheer on our girls.  Please ask Tina or Marcel for times of the competition.

Well done Libby, Poppy and Stephanie for working so hard at your routines at the Forest of Dean today.  Libby (8/9 age group) collected overall gold and 5 individual gold medals. Libby performed a brilliant floor routine with an amazing round off, flic, straight back somersault opening tumbled.  Her round off and back flip on beam were ’spot on’ – Well done Libby ! In the 12 – 13 age group Poppy Jones worked incredibly hard gaining 4 ribbon places. Yet again her floor was amazing spotting all her tumbles including a fab arabian somersault opening tumble, free carthweel, flic tuck back somersault and ‘punch’ front. A great performance all round – well done Poppy ! In the 14 + age group Stephanie Grant was our only entry in a fierce contest. This was Stephanies first attempt at Intermediate level competition. Steph performed some great routines also spotting her tumbles on floor, great handspring vault, and upstarts on the A Bars. We are so proud of you Steph for achieving 6th ribbon place overall. Congratulations to all 3 girls on a great performance at this year’s East Wales Intermediate Championships.

3 girls will represent the Club at the Forest of Dean on Sunday 11 September 2011.  The girls have worked amazing routines leading up to this event and we wish them well.

GOOD LUCK GIRLS FROM EVERYONE AT CITY OF NEWPORT GYM CLUB !!

Just a further reminder that the fees will increase from 1st September as shown below. Letters were given to most club members at the begining of August.  Please alter your standing orders accordingly for September, thank you.

Recreational gymnasts (attending 1 hour a week) – £20 per month

Gymnasts attending 2 hours a week (Tuesday preparation group) – £25 per month

Gymnasts attending 3 sessions per week (competition squad) – £30 per month

Gymnasts attending all sessions (intermediate/challenge cup squad) – £35 per month

Those who have more than 1 child attending will receive a 20% discount for the second and subsequent children attending.

Example: 3 children attending from September

1st child attends competition squad         – fee £30

2nd child attends recreational group       – fee £16

3 rd child attends recreational group       – fee £16
